Before undergoing rhinoplasty

At first sight, your surgeon will ask you to describe widely which features would you like to improve. Be accurate in what would you like and what not. Surgeon will be limited by your internal and external nose structure. After examine your nose, plastic surgeon can give you an idea of which features can improve your nose. Your surgeon will take in consideration the whole set before planning the rhinoplasty procedure.

If you have a slightly pronounced cheek, this can make you think your nose is longer than its real length. Some patients choose to increase their cheekbones at the same time they undergo rhinoplasty. Your surgeon will decide whether to do it or not. You must make sure to tell your surgeon if your nose has been operated previously or if you have had some kind of injury on it, even if it was long time ago. Before the rhinoplasty procedure

Don’t take any aspirine or anti-inflammatory (your surgeon can provide you with a list with the medicines to avoid).

If you smoke, give it up at least a week before (and bear in mind that you won’t be able to smoke meanwhile the recovery process. Smoking increases the risk of complications and it has been proved that injuries heal worse. It could cause us necrosis, scars, skin lose and maybe we will need another surgery procedure to remove dead skin).

Try to obtain a copy of the procedure your surgeon will follow.

Agree with someone to carry you to the operation and someone to bring you back home after the operation.

Agree with someone to take care of you the first 24-72 hours after surgery.

Achieve the painkillers and antibiotics before undergoing rhinoplasty surgery.

Buy a thermometer, antibacterial soap, gauze and bandages.

Prepare the place where you are going to recover from surgery; pillows, books, magazines, newspapers, tv, dvds, humidifier, Cds, nasal spray, a bucket to barf in..

Prepare and freeze food for two weeks, consider also protein shakes, yoghurt, cheese, juices etc, ask your doctor the possibility of doing a diet while you recover to avoid gaining weight.

Moisturizing creams, healing creams and vaseline.

Laxatives, some painkillers can constipate you.

Moisturizing tears, your eyes could dry after the rhinoplasty surgery.

The day of the operation take comfortable clothing and wide for both undress and dress after the operation.
